The Journey on the canal

There were only six Scouts and one leader who was Bosun allowed to go on this trip. The Scouts who went were Andrew Quinton, Niel Quinton, Steven Hatteley, David Ashton, Andrew Peak and myself. Jim Kindley offered to take us on his cruiser along the canal. We started at Calf Heath and finished at Calf Heath.

When we started to go towards Oxley Moor, when we came to a bridge Andrew Quinton jumped off the boat and pushed us into the side and scratched the boat. Then we carried on until we came to a slow barge. We overtook it and we found out that it was pushing another barge. We also found out that he made the buffers for the front of the barges. We carried on even farther until we came to our first lock and we all jumped off the boat and opened the lock with the key and the water gushed in.

On the journey we went through five locks and on the fifth one we stopped and had our lunch and we went to the shops. We arrived back at approximately 6:00 o'clock. We had a very enjoyable day. By Andrew Powell.
