White Water Canoeing

Six of us were to meet at the Scout hut at 9 o'clock in the morning. Number one, that's the Scout leader, Neal Quinton, Robert Bood, Adrian Jarvis, Andrew Bates and Andrew Peek. They all got there on time. Number one opened the Scout hut and let us in. He told us to get the canoes out and put them on to cars. The one car was number one's, the other was a Cub Scout leader. We took four canoes. Paddy took his canoe.

We set off after Bood had done the big knots. Number one went down the road to get some petrol. The Cub Scout went off somewhere in number one's car, was me, Neal and Peek. The others went in the other car. We got at the place about 10 o'clock. Bates, Number one, Paddy, Bood, Neal went first. Me and Peek went in a car up to the point where we had to meet and let me and Peek have a go at canoeing.

We walked down the river to see them. There were lots of other Scouts. They went on to the white water. A boy from another troop capsised. They had to do a H rescue. Number one went down this big white water from a troop. Neal, Bood and Bates capsised. Neal capsised four times. Bood and Bates went down the river to let us have a go. Me and Peek had a go. Number one showed us some ways to go on the white water.
