We were attached by a piece of rope and Paul Smith nearly let go of the rope for the boat behind us. Finally we were all lined up ready for the start. We got a good start but headed for the bank. Paul Smith jerked the rudder and it came off in his hand. We came in last, but were awarded third place.

We parked the boat and went to where the sailing races were taking place. We heard that David and Andy had missed their race and had to take part in the under-13s race instead. After a bad start David and Andrew finished second. It was still raining and Paul Smith and I were soaked in our shorts and T-shirts.

The rain never stopped. We sheltered in the Quantock and prepared our evening meal of liver and onions, potatoes and peas, followed by special chocolate cake. After tea David Ashton and Andrew Peek had to brave the weather and tie the Mirror up for the night, and they came back soaked.

We had to decide what to do for the rest of the night. We had an hour on PL training and an hour on party games. Squish, No. 1 and Andy Key arrived and told us that Squish had fallen in a bog. For the rest of the night we played Give Us a Clue and then went to bed hoping for a peaceful night.

We were talking and messing about in the tent when a gust blew around it. Paul Smith put his torch on and noticed the ridge pole had been forced apart. I held the pole up while the others sorted the tent out. Most of us got up and found Squish having problems keeping the Quantock in place, so we helped peg it down.

We stood outside enjoying the breeze and watching the clouds move fast. Andy Key shouted, "Look at the stars moving fast!" and everyone laughed. We decided not to go to bed and played rugby with a water carrier. I got punched in the mouth by Neil Quinton. A man from a caravan told us to shut up, so we went to bed and eventually went to sleep.

The next morning we woke at 7:45. Andy Key and Mickey Peters got up first to cook breakfast. Andy Peek was already up, and David Ashton was made to get up because he and Andy Peek had to find the Mirror. The rest of us listened to the radio. Eventually we got up, found No. 1 and Neil were still not up, and breakfast was being prepared. The weather had calmed down.

Some of the group began playing football on the pitch. Paul Smith, David Ashton and Andrew Peek decided to join in, and our side won 3-0.
