A Mathematics Lesson Starter Of The Day

Topics: Starter | Arithmetic | Mental Methods | Tables

  • Yves, Belgium
  • Very good.
  • Transum,
  • This appears to be quite a popular Maths lesson starter (click on the stars below to see a bar chart of the votes) and can be used in a variety of different ways. It could be a silent activity in which pupils try to work out the answer before it appears on the screen and only they will know whether they are successful or not. Alternatively it could be the focus of a question/answer session with the teacher using the pause button as required. The numbers are randomly generated so this Starter can be used many times with the same class providing regular practice.

How did you use this starter? Can you suggest how teachers could present or develop this resource? Do you have any comments? It is always useful to receive feedback and helps make this free resource even more useful for Maths teachers anywhere in the world.
