  • This is a great memory aid which could be used for formulae or key facts etc - in any subject area. The PICTURE is such an aid to remembering where each number or group of numbers is - my pupils love it!
    Thanks

  • Transum,
  •
  • Many thanks to the good folk at Oxford University Press who have given permission for Transum to use the numberful picture for the extension activity (see below). There are many ways this picture can be used to stimulate a memory activity but it is up to you, the teacher, to devise a challenge suitable for your pupils. You may use it for a five minute viewing then ten questions about the picture when it is out of site or it could be the subject of a speed quiz with questions such as "Find the average of the three years you can see in the picture" or "How long after the record shop closes does the last showing of the film Crusher 2 begin?".
  • Mapperley CE Primary School,
  •
  • We did really well! Some of us scored 12! Great memories.

Note to teacher: Doing this activity once with a class helps students develop strategies. It is only when they do this activity a second time that they will have the opportunity to practise those strategies. That is when the learning is consolidated. Laptops In Lessons

Teacher, do your students have access to computers such as tablets, iPads or Laptops?  This page was really designed for projection on a whiteboard but if you really want the students to have access to it here is a concise URL for a version of this page without the comments:

Transum.org/go/?Start=September14

However it would be better to assign one of the student interactive activities below.

Laptops In Lessons

Here is the URL which will take them to a related student activity.
