Mathematicians are not the people who find Maths easy; they are the people who enjoy how mystifying, puzzling and hard it is. Are you a mathematician? Comment recorded on the 24 May 'Starter of the Day' page by Ruth Seward, Hagley Park Sports College: "Find the starters wonderful; students enjoy them and often want to use the idea generated by the starter in other parts of the lesson. Keep up the good work" Comment recorded on the 19 November 'Starter of the Day' page by Lesley Sewell, Ysgol Aberconwy, Wales: "A Maths colleague introduced me to your web site and I love to use it. The questions are so varied I can use them with all of my classes, I even let year 13 have a go at some of them. I like being able to access Starters for the whole month so I can use favourites with classes I see at different times of the week. Thanks." |
Each month a newsletter is published containing details of the new additions to the Transum website and a new puzzle of the month. The newsletter is then duplicated as a podcast which is available on the major delivery networks. You can listen to the podcast while you are commuting, exercising or relaxing. Transum breaking news is available on Twitter @Transum and if that's not enough there is also a Transum Facebook page. |

Go MathsLearning and understanding Mathematics, at every level, requires learner engagement. Mathematics is not a spectator sport. Sometimes traditional teaching fails to actively involve students. One way to address the problem is through the use of interactive activities and this web site provides many of those. The Go Maths page is an alphabetical list of free activities designed for students in Secondary/High school. Maths MapAre you looking for something specific? "If you are not up to answering the questions quickly enough you could start by just doing the left column. If you can manage that progress to the left two columns until you build up enough speed to try all of the columns. Each time you start the clock the questions change so you do not need to worry about repeating yourself! Enjoy."

"How can I embed the code for Beat The Clock into my Wordpress blog?
Would like to make your games a feature, but better than a link."

"Thanks for your question Andy. It can be done by using an inline frame. Here is the code you will need:
<iframe id="I1" name="I1" src="https://www.transum.org/Maths/Activity/Beat_The_Clock/" style="width: 963px; height: 970px">
It needs copying and pasting as text (not visual)."

"Can you please add level 10 and 11, I have finished 9 so many times and I love this game but it is getting boring doing only level 9 all the time, I love challenges so can you please add a level 10 and 11.
[Transum: Well Asmi, if Level 9 is too easy for you I have now added a Level 10. Let's see if you can complete Level 10 before I start thinking about a Level 11. Keep up the good work.]"
