Bike Hike

26th October 1980

On Sunday we went on a bike hike. We started off at the Scout hut at 2:30pm and headed straight to Bushbury H.Q. From there we went to Windmill Farm and there we had to find out the number of Windmill House, but there wasn't one. We were riding also for nearly 3 hours and that is very long.

The idea of the bike was to see how fit we are and how good we are at finding out clues and our way around places. The farthest we went was Essington and by the clay pits. The Scouts that went were David Onions, Andrew Bates, Paul Barnes, Andrew Denner, Andrew Adey, David Ashton, Andrew Roy, Richard Davenport, Michael O'Neill and myself, Gary Williams. We were split up into two patrols and my partner was Andy Roy.

It was a very nice ride apart because half way round it started to rain and the track was muddy and very slippy. When we got back Neil Quinton and Mr Barnes announced the winners. I came first with 10 points, but the thing that puzzled me was that I came in last with O. Neil. It was 5:30pm when I got home so I soon went to sleep that night. Three of us have got our cyclist badge so that is another to crawl up our jumpers. Altogether it was an enjoyable afternoon. By Gary Williams.
