The patrols were split up. Redshank, Cormorant and Kingfisher spent the day sailing, canoeing and orienteering whilst Seagull and Gannet went on their Great Adventure hike. Seagull's Great Adventure hike can be seen opposite. I certainly know that all on Seagull's hike had a good time and from what I have heard Gannet had a good time too.
As for the boating session, back at camp everyone also seemed to have a good time. Unfortunately one or two people seemed to have capsized canoes, none more than Michael Smith, who forgot the golden rule and left his canoe, resulting in him being swept into a pile of fishermen's wire. This could not have been very comfortable and the fishermen's shouting will certainly mean that he will never leave his canoe after capsizing ever again.
Great Adventure Hike
It is your mission to leave main camp, not to return till 5:00pm, and to achieve five objectives: give each member of the patrol practice in map work; do someone a good turn; find out information about some local feature; bring back a souvenir; follow this route. Keeping off roads as much as possible, go to Turner's Pool and then to Rockhall. Walk around the road and then return to camp via Hilleans reservoir.
Take with you anything you may need. Above all it is up to you to make the day a "Great Adventure".
