The other Scouts who went climbing also seemed to have a good time and at least none was shot by Davy Ernie. On arriving back at camp we found that some visitors had arrived and so the regatta got started straight away.

The first race was a single canoe race with one member from each patrol taking part. Andrew Denner of Seagull won this race. The second race was a sailing race between Andrew Adey, Andrew Bates, David Onions against Andrew Peek, David Ashton and one other Scout. Needless to say the PLs won. Next there was a canoe doubles race which ended in a draw. Gerbil Jarvis and Adrian Goodall were in the one boat and somebody else was in the other.

Then there was a sculling competition between David Onions and David Evans against Andrew Bates and Robert Cunningham. The idea was to burst as many balloons possible. Both teams burst the same amount, but Andrew Bates' side did it slightly quicker, about 0.5 second, so I suppose they must go down as the winners.

The next race was a canoe race without the paddles and after this came the great greased melon race. The Jodrell Bankers played the Roches Climbers. The final score was 2-0 to the Jodrell Bankers. After this came the swimming race and Andrew Denner won his second race. Also there was a capsize display and an H rescue display plus a 5 man raft being formed and the two end people changing positions.

On the whole it was a very successful regatta, enjoyed by the Scouts and parents. It was also the last activity in the Scouts for Robert Bood, David Onions, Andrew Adey, Stephen Hopkins and Andrew Bates.
