Open Night
37th Wolverhampton Sea Scout Troop invited parents and friends to an Open Night on Friday 5th March 1982, 7:30-9:30pm. Refreshments were available and admission was free.
On Friday 5th March the 37th Wolverhampton Sea Scouts had our Open Evening. We started off with games, then we had divisions. There were some games. The parents did not start to walk round until we had a competition, which was to make a tripod. Then we had bridge work, which I did, packing a rucksack. Later we had a game of Activity Bingo where we had to do funny things for our parents, like collect a pair of ladies' shoes or get a parent who knows the Scout Law. Then we were dismissed.
Games included cock fighting and life jacket racing. For the competition we had three big sticks and some Scout staffs, and then we made a tripod. After that we made a contraption to lift a person.
The Open Evening programme listed divisions and inspection at 7:30pm, games at 7:40pm, inter-patrol competition at 7:50pm, badgework at 8:20pm, activity bingo at 8:50pm, games at 9:10pm, and flagdown and prayers at 9:30pm.
