Mathematicians are not the people who find Maths easy; they are the people who enjoy how mystifying, puzzling and hard it is. Are you a mathematician?

Keep it up and thank you!"

Comment recorded on the 18 September 'Starter of the Day' page by Mrs. Peacock, Downe House School and Kennet School:

"My year 8's absolutely loved the "Separated Twins" starter. I set it as an optional piece of work for my year 11's over a weekend and one girl came up with 3 independant solutions."

Each month a newsletter is published containing details of the new additions to the Transum website and a new puzzle of the month.

The newsletter is then duplicated as a podcast which is available on the major delivery networks. You can listen to the podcast while you are commuting, exercising or relaxing.

Transum breaking news is available on Twitter @Transum and if that's not enough there is also a Transum Facebook page.

Go Maths

Learning and understanding Mathematics, at every level, requires learner engagement. Mathematics is not a spectator sport. Sometimes traditional teaching fails to actively involve students. One way to address the problem is through the use of interactive activities and this web site provides many of those. The Go Maths main page links to more activities designed for students in upper Secondary/High school.

"I have not seen this type of site before but think it is so innovative. It is very useful for students who do not show a great interest in mathematics and improves interest, confidence and overall capacities of the students."

"Addle was designed to provide one of the many ways can pupils practice adding and subtracting numbers mentally. Even though the title suggests this activity is all about adding there is a lot of subtracting involved too. Each time some numbers are placed on a line subtraction is need to work out what’s left to make the given sum. There are many more activities on this website addressing this particular learning objective. You can see some of the most relevant ones on the add and subtract numbers mentally page."
