Mathematicians are not the people who find Maths easy; they are the people who enjoy how mystifying, puzzling and hard it is. Are you a mathematician? Comment recorded on the 19 October 'Starter of the Day' page by E Pollard, Huddersfield: "I used this with my bottom set in year 9. To engage them I used their name and favorite football team (or pop group) instead of the school name. For homework, I asked each student to find a definition for the key words they had been given (once they had fun trying to guess the answer) and they presented their findings to the rest of the class the following day. They felt really special because the key words came from their own personal information." Lots of interesting discussions and questions have arisen out of the activities. Thanks for such a great resource!" Find an expression, in its simplest form, for the perimeter of this heptagon.
Find the value of t if the perimeter of the heptagon is equal to 270 units.
Find an expression, in its simplest form, for the perimeter of this isosceles triangle.
Find the value of t if the perimeter of the triangle is equal to 50 units.
If however the perimeter of the triangle was equal to 100 units find the value of t in this case.
Find an expression, in its simplest form, for the perimeter of this shape.
Find the value of p if the perimeter of the triangle is equal to 252 units.
If however the perimeter of this shape was equal to 63 units find the value of p in this case.
A square and an equilateral triangle have perimeters of the same size. If the length on one side of the triangle is 4k units, find the length of one side of the square.
A regular pentagon and a regular octagon have perimeters of the same size. If the length on one side of the pentagon is 40w units, find the length of one side of the octagon.
