Thursday continued. The evening meal was corn beef hash and fruit cocktail. When we had finished our evening meal we had flagdown and then at 7:30pm we had the retreat game. The retreat game is a game where the Scouts have to get to a place chosen by the Scouts but that the leaders do not know, and the leaders have to get us before we get there. Halfway through the game it started raining, so we returned back to base. When we got back we had supper, followed by bed.
Friday 2nd August. Today we got a special treat because No.1 let us have a lie in until 9:00am, but at 9:00am they came around as usual and woke us all up for breakfast, which was grapefruit and sausage sandwiches. After breakfast, at 11:00am, we had flagbreak. Today Cormorant did flag up. During the night it had been raining hard and the river had risen about six inches, so Cormorant and Kingfisher had to move into the hut to sleep for the night.
After flagbreak and inspection we all got changed for crazy sports. Crazy sports consisted of lots of games that were all fun. The games included donkey water race, football, hurl the hammer, river crossing, slalom course, mini marathon, chariot shuffle and tug of war.
At 12 noon, when we were halfway through the crazy sports, we had lunch. Today lunch was mystery meal, where the PLs had to pick a number of tins without labels on and then make a meal out of what they had got. After lunch we carried on with the crazy sports. It was about 6:00pm when the crazy sports had finished. We had our evening meal while we went away and prepared our sketches for the international buffet. We had to do a sketch from an old song that we were given on tape. At 7:00pm we went to the international buffet and cabaret.
