Pentransum is designed for individuals or pairs of students to work on together. It can also be used as a whole class activity with the teacher projecting this page onto a whiteboard and students indicating their answers by:

writing their answers on mini whiteboards;
using Student Sign to show their answers*;
hand straight up if they think the top answer is correct, hand slightly up and to the left if they thing the left answer is correct and so on.

"It is interesting to note that when people are suggesting questions for Pentransum they also have to provide five possible answers. It could be assumed that with a free choice of how these answers are arranged, the correct answer would be equally likely to be assigned to each of the letters A to E. This is not the case however. It appears that people are roughly twice as likely to choose the middle answer (C) rather than either of the outside answers (A or E). Here is a breakdown of the choices as read from the database.
